I don’t think I’ve mentioned it before, but I live in a part of the USA notorious for three things: small dicks, giant belt buckles and pollution. Environmentalism is a dirty word around here, like consent and no, and multilingual. Our state bird is a deep-fried, factory-farmed, estrogen-drenched chicken.I doubt I can eat, drink or shower without absorbing more chemicals than one of Courtney Love’s tampons. So why do I continue to get hate mail from people about my drug usage and boozing?
Join Greenpeace or bother someone else. The fetus has never emailed me to complain, so why do you? I’m dedicating my next bong hit to you guys.

Hi, I'm a pro-choice liberal dirt-worshipping tree-hugger and not having any more rugrats myself but I'd be happy to take a baby off your hands. Perhaps you have a post that explains why you are not interested in adoption. I'd like to read that if you can point me in that direction. No judgement here, just empathy. BTDT, first trimester of course, I don't think I could have waited as long as you have, I'd be attached but this is not my choice, it's yours. Good luck to you!

That's a well-intentioned offer, and I'm sure you've been a good mother to yours. I read a little bit of your blog and you've fulfilled the entry requirements of being sane, compassionate and competent. If I had any spare babies laying around, I'd happily pass one off to you.
I don't know if there's a post here specifically discussing adoption, but if you read through the posts here I think you'll get the general impression that SMA just reeeeeally doesn't want to have a baby. Adoption is harder than abortion for some women and SMA may be convinced she is one of those women. She may OTOH simply feel that she is not a person who should be reproducing. I don't really know. But read through and I think you can get a pretty good idea of her general feelings about this pregnancy. Extrapolate that over time and you can guess about adoption.
my post-abortion syndrom seems to be years of relief and no regrets.

First Anon: Yup, I understand that, adoption is not an easy choice either. Whether I'm a competent parent or not has yet to be determined since they're not fully grown yet, but I can state unequivocally that they were both wanted very much.

Religious differences aside, no one can deny the utter crassness and unbelievable disregard for human life that this blog embodies.
Wether or not you believe that an unborn fetus is an actual "person", or even that the fetus becomes a "person" at birth, anyone with an ounce of decency, no, COMMON SENSE, understands that excessive drug and alcohol abuse has devastating effects on the adult human body. At least we, as adults, are able to make the conscious decision to engage ourselves in such activities - an unborn fetus has no such choice, and to subject it to these toxic substances is unimaginably cruel. The fetus, the future person, whatever - will undoubtedly be born with at least one crippling side effect of it's mother's lifestyle, which will undoubtedly effect it's quality of life (if it makes it that far) and that, in itself, is an unfair removal of the right to a healthy, happy life that we all deserve. Personally, the way the mother openly and spitefully discusses her abuse and the effects it is having on the fetus is one of the most disgusting aspects of her blog. Yet, the smarter part of me believes that this whole thing is nothing more than a sick joke, which is why I'm refraining from getting involved any further than offering my humble opinion. That a mother could hold her own baby hostage is a concept that is too horrendous to want to believe, nor one that I believe if it were legitimate, would be allowed to continue to attract so much attention. I feel bad for the good hearted people who have handed over their money to this person - there's no guarantee that even if she received all the money, she wouldn't abort the fetus, anyway.
I don't know about the US, but I'm pretty sure that abortion past 5 months is not an available choice for women?

unfortunately a woman can choose abortion for the entire 9 months. Most states have restrictions passed viability for health reasons only, but if a woman wants an abortion bad enough her and her doctor can surely come up with a "health" reason such as excessive weight gain or polyurea (peeing a lot.)
