It hasn't been born. And civil discussions usually entail people accepting basic truths as opposed to appealing to some vague concept, like "living entity". A parasite is a living entity which gains resources from another organism without giving any resources back. A woman can choose, of her own volition, to keep giving those resources to a parasite living within her body or she can choose to get rid of it. Most people at this point say "but a fetus isn't a parasite" which may be debatable in theory, however it assumes things not in evidence, namely that human beings are better than other animals and that the mother must, by the nature of the DNA form of the fetus, choose to give resources, which are hers, to the fetus. There is no scientific basis for this and there is no concrete evidence that this fetus "deserves" those resources. Thus, to be consistent along argumentative definitions that do not assume some form of hierarchy in nature, a mother has the right to withhold those resources and destroy the fetus, which by our above definition, is a parasite.
and seriously, is a baby being born still "unborn" if it still has a foot in the hole? or is it when you cut the umbillical cord? premature babies can grow up to be healthy adults. how did you logically arrive at a solid crossing line between existence and non-existence? is it really a fine line or is there a grey area? is there a time limit on that right to life? as in, could a mother have the baby normally, and then decide to have it put to sleep before a certain age?
what is your opinion on the right to life in non-human life forms? is it okay to kill animals? is it because they belong to another species and are therefore of no value? are all humans of equal value or do you hold racial stereotypes? like many cultures wage genocide or enforce slavery on other cultures because they believe the party in question are not truly on the level of "human".

I am a doctor and just happened to run across this message. Yeah, between my husband and I we could save your child but probably best if you are this kind of person that you kill it early rather than later. To live your life with such irreverance to creation is absolutely thoughtless. Take your blinders off. Whatever or whoever has made you such are hard person you need to come to terms with. I realize this may not happen before October 19th but hopefully someday. Being a physician I am very aware of the whole procedure of an abortion. I have never preformed one nor will I ever. This procedure is nothing short of murder between a pregant woman and her doctor. It has been shown to cause the fetus much distress. This child is not "yours". It is mearly a gift you were given along with YOUR LIFE. It really sounds like you just don't get it. I pray you will have a change of heart and that you understand and come to appreciate LIFE whether it be your own, your unborn child or your next door neighbor.

I think it's interesting that I am somehow a fundamentalist. What fundamentals do I believe in? I assume you infer christian fundamentalism, though I made no mention of the word "bible" or "god", etc. in fact I did mention a religion, jainism, however I do not practice that.
Besides the legal and health issues of abortion, people seem to fall into two camps.
I think the basic dividing line between the two are
1 - until a baby is removed from the womb it is an extension of the woman's body, and therefore subject to her will
or
2 - an emryo or a fetus or whatever is a seperate entity from the woman and therefore has god or universe given rights to life, and is not the property of the woman

Under the above stated framework, my question is not a red herring, It's the very crux of the issue. How can you define the conditions in which a human life exists and does not exist? To suggest that a human fetus is not a human one second because it is inside of a womb and then suddenly is a human baby by removing it from the womb, doesn't make sense to me.

the problem with "pro-choice". A woman has the right to choose to have a baby or not. And she can make the choice to not have a baby without having to have an abortion. CHOOSE NOT TO HAVE SEX. It's that simple. When you decide to have sex, you are deciding to have a baby. You are taking on that risk and responsibility. You use a condom? there's still a ~2% chance of having a baby. Birth control doesn't always work. Call me crazy, but there is a striking amount of evidence that when a male human ejaculates into the vagina of a female human, there is a likelihood of impregnating that woman.

It's unlikely that roe v wade will be overturned anytime soon, but we now have a conservative supreme court with justices that make no bones that they feel they have the right to overturn that decision if given the oppurtunity. It could someday turn out to be a state by state vote. But unlikely. Say you are in a situation where your girlfriend/wife/whore is accidently impregnated and wants to abort the child. We as men don't have a legal say in the matter. I feel I have a 50% share in the decision if the child is mine. I would choose to raise it myself. The law don't care.

The crux of the argument is that "pro-life" people don't give a shit about the women, and they think the fetus is just magically hovering around in a wandering uterus, getting nutrients and shelter from some non-existent entity. That the mother wishes to do this doesn't matter, because she had sex, thus tainting herself with...something. Bullshit. Have you ever had sex? The only argument that says people should have "consequences" for having sex is that sex is bad. It isn't. That pregnancy can happen does not mean it cannot be ended, because abortion exists. So the argument becomes:
1)Women deserve to be punished because they had sex and the way to punish them is to make abortion illegal.
or
2)Sex does not taint people and pregnancy, because safe abortion exists, should be something a woman can opt out of due to the fact that she has the choice to nurture those cells that will become a child.
If you go with one, you hate women. Plain and simple. If you say "But I love FETUSES!" that means you are saying a potential human being means more that a real, live one. Sorry, you still hate women and your argument is a BIG red herring.

Before I begin I just want to say that it would be mush easier to read your posts if you didn’t treat every sentence as a new paragraph. Also, I don’t want to argue about Janists. Let’s address this red herring thing. Because Dicknose, a 6 month old foetus is not merely a fully developed baby wrapped in a womb. To use your tennis ball analogy, the raw materials used to make a tennis ball are not a tennis ball even if they are on the conveyor belt of a tennis-ball-making-factory and the only way that they won’t become a tennis ball, is if some selfish godless irresponsible whore-daemon decides her life is more important than the life of this tennis ball. Even if the parts are already cut into the shape of a tennis ball and look really similar to a tennis ball, it’s not a tennis ball until the glue dries and you can, well, play tennis with it. Before that it’s just scraps.
The way you summarise the position of pro-life and pro-choice is very telling. You call a foetus and baby, I’ve already addressed why this is flawed and will take it up again further in this post. The second thing is that you frame the 2 positions in such a way as to focus entirely on the foetus, treating the woman as being merely inconveniently located around this “baby.” Here’s how I would frame the pro-choice argument. A woman’s body is her own property to do with as she wishes. Her uterus and womb are hers completely and always. If she does not want something (or in your wording, ‘someone’) residing in her body, she is completely justifies in removing that thing. Now, if a foetus was merely a baby unfortunately wrapped in a womb, a woman could pull it out at any point in the pregnancy and it would ‘goo’ and ‘gah’ and do all the crap that babies do. Trouble is, a foetus won’t do that. Even if we managed away to get it out without damaging it, I don’t believe there’s anyone here who’s seriously arguing that a foetus can live with out a womb, so it would die. Proving that it is not a baby. This further illustrates the position of a foetus. It is not as though a foetus develops on it’s own. It requires a woman’s body to give it nutrients (crap terminology I know, clearly I ain’t a doctor, but fortunately every pro-lifer on this board seems to be one so you can ask them for the technical terms). If a woman doesn’t want to use her body to give a foetus nutrients than she is well within her right.
My Crazy Sense is tingling as a write that because I can feel 1000’s of PhD faking forced-birthers about to equate having an abortion with starving a child. I think the more accurate analogy is that having an abortion is more like putting a child up for adoption. Allowing a foetus to develop into a baby you do not want and know is going to not be looked after has more in common with neglecting a child.This brings me to you comments about accepting responsibility for your actions, which is precisely what having an abortion is. Going through the torment of having so many people abuse you, having to cross picket lines etc. because you know that this baby won’t be wanted, is a much more responsible thing to do than having a baby you don’t want (and possibly can’t afford) because that’s the easiest thing to do.
